About the
Society

A volunteer-led home for the records, objects, and stories that make Jackson County distinct.

What the Society does

The Jackson County Historical Society is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational and literary organization. Volunteers collect and compile data, answer queries, prepare publications, and assist patrons with research.

A collection with local roots

The Society holds surname, cemetery, and subject files; microfilmed newspapers; vital and church records; obituaries; plat books; Sanborn maps; searchable databases; courthouse records; photographs; textiles; business artifacts; Apple Festival archives; and maps. Much of this material cannot be found in another library or facility.
